Bipasha basu charges Rs 2.47 crore for 15 minutes!

This year, not many Bollywood beauties have decided to shake their booty on stage courtesy to the pittance they are being offered as remuneration. But that is not the case with bong hottie Bipasha, on whom money is raining like cats and dogs.

Apparently, the leggy Bipasha is all set to seduce with her dance moves in a sizzling performance at a suburban Five Star hotel on December 31, 2009.

It’s reported that she has charged an astronomically high price to perform at the event, though media is guessing it to be around 2 crores, but that is so not true, as we have it from Bips close friend that the sultry actress is charging no less that 2.47 crores!

Giving out details of the payment, we hear that this one is first for Bollywood as no other actress performer has ever charged so high for a 15 minute show! That comes to a cool 16 lakhs 46 thousand per minute. The amount will be paid in installments; the breakdown is 1.2 crores in cheque, some in cash and the rest in gifts.

Bipasha is going to perform on numbers from her films ‘Omkara’, ‘Bachna Ae Haseeno’, etc. there is also a probability of her performing on songs from the 70’s.

Earlier, when Bipasha performed on New Year ’s Eve in the year 2007, she set the benchmark by becoming the highest paid performer by charging close to 1 crore, and now even in the times of recession Bips has managed to draw a sweet 2.47 crores, now that’s called having your cake and eating it too!

While Sharman Joshi didn’t have to work that hard on looking 22 for Raj Kumar Hirani’s 3 Idiots, Aamir Khan and Madhavan had to work really hard to look like young IIT students.

Says Maddy, “The fact that we shot at the Bangalore IIT Bangalore REALLY REALLY helped. It was all thanks to Aamir. He suggested we shoot there.

Once we went into an actual institute all three of us Aamir, Sharman and I, immediately began to feel like students. Age was never an issue because I got the role after an audition. Once I was seen to fit in no one was looking at my passport to check my age.

As for the rest including the physicality once we got into the IIT everything else followed.Incidentally I’ve studied in an institution similar to the IIT. I know that life. ”

Aamir had decided to play bandminton to stay youthful and fit. Maddy decided to follow suit. While playing with Prakash Padukone—no less, ahem ahem—Maddy badly injured his knee. A kind of injury that could’ve ruined his chances of doing the pivotal role in such an important film like 3 Idiots.

Maddy grows quiet as he re-lives the nightmare. “I tore a ligament in my knee and couldn’t walk. My first thought was, ‘Oh my God! Would I be able to continue shooting?’ Luckily for me my director Raj Kumar Hirani and Aamir were extremely supportive. I don’t think I could’ve gone through the film without them, not with that knee of mine.”

Hirani, apparently on Aamir’s suggestion, wrote a knee-protection-cum-bandage for Maddy’s character.

Says Maddy, “All three of us have two different looks in the film, one in college and one after. You’ll see me wearing that knee protection-bandage all through my college scenes. It’s there because I got hurt. And the hurt was written into the script.”

Getting emotional about Aamir, Maddy says, “Both Sharman and I had worked with Aamir in Rang De Basanti. I don’t know if he recommended me. May be he suggested my name.

Once I was on, Aamir just blended in as part of the threesome. There was never any attempt to be one-up because he is THE Aamir Khan. All three of us were IIT students learning the lessons of life the hard way. Aamir made invaluable suggestions including the bandminton.”

But didn’t Aamir get a leading lady Kareena Kapoor, a privilege denied to Maddy?

“No way!” Maddy jumps to Aamir’s defence. “Sorry, Aamir didn’t get Kareena. The script got him Kareena. We shot what was written, not what suited Aamir’s stardom. His ability to be part of an ensemble in spite of his status is incredible.”

Shah Rukh and Farah Khan bury the hatchet

Shahrukh Khan and Farah Khan have broken the ice between them and are back on talking terms. In fact, they have decided to work together too. Farah went to Shahrukh’s house last week with her three kids.

Shahrukh was apparently annoyed when Farah announced her decision to cast Akshay Kumar in ‘Tees Maar Khan’. He had absolutely not expected that.

According to sources, Shahrukh kept delaying Farah’s ‘Happy New Year’. But Farah couldn’t keep waiting for him. This led to some tension between both of them.

The doe-eyed actor Celina Jaitley had been suffering from an unexplainable recurring stomach pain since childhood.

Ranbir Kapoor, who was hoping to get back together with his ex-girlfriend Deepika Padukone, got his chance at a party hosted by jewellery designer Maheep Kapoor and fashion designer Nandita Mahtani. The guests at the party made sure Ranbir and Deepika, who weren’t even on talking terms, got talking.

The party had all the glitter possible what with Shahrukh Khan and his friends– Karan Johar, Arjun Rampal and his wife Mehr present.

Also present were Shabina Khan, Ritesh Deshmukh, Sonam Kapoor, Dino Morea (Nandita’s boyfriend).

Deepika was with Ritesh Deshmukh all evening, as he is her co-star in ‘Housefull’ while Ranbir was speaking to everyone. However, Deepika and Ranbir kept avoiding each other’s eye. And the guests at the party saw that.

To break the ice between them, Karan and Shabina tried to get the two to talk.

Ranbir-Katrina: Khullam Khulla Pyaar Karenge Hum Dono

The latest buzz in Bollywood claims that Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif are more than friends but neither of them is admitting to their relationship. It all started during the shooting of ‘Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahini’. Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif came closer and their growing fondness can be measured from text messages, constant phone calls.

Among other news that has surfaced, it is being said that Katrina had also visited Ranbir’s residence and that Ranbir had gifted her heart-shaped pendant. Katrina has tried keeping it under wraps having told only a few close friends about it.

What was the first thing that came to your mind when you saw Sourav as a quizmaster?
It was really a pleasant surprise. I have seen him play cricket, discuss cricket…this is completely a new avatar of Dada (Sourav Ganguly). But I must say, he is really good at it. As I said on stage-Dada ko pakadna mushkil hi nehin, na mumkin hai. (Smiles)

What brings you to the finale of ‘Dadagiri Unlimited’? Friendship with Sourav?
Sourav and my friendship now go beyond Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Indian Premier League (IPL). To me, he is one of the best cricketers in India. I can never say ‘no’ to him.

Is this a kind of ‘favour returning’ gesture…since Sourav has earlier judged your cheerleader hunt ‘Knights & Angels’?
I never thought about it in this way…really. And as far as ‘Knights & Angels’ go, Sourav was not getting cheerleaders for Shah Rukh, but for the entire KKR team.

You have got Sourav back as KKR captain for IPL 3…
I told you…he is the best (in cricket).

KKR started with much energy, but failed to win the first two seasons of IPL. Do you expect to win this time?
I won’t comment on that. But if KKR wins this time, I will come and dance for all of you in Kolkata.

Fardeen Khan planning to produce a comedy

Practically all actors have started their production house to make movies they believe in. Fardeen Khan's father, the late Feroz Khan, started F.K. Films years ago and has produced a string of movies, besides QURBANI, which was a smash hit. Now Fardeen is ready to follow in his father's footsteps and produce movies.

Fardeen has decided to produce his first film, which will not be made under his father's banner. "I will start a different production house for this one. It's a comedy," Fardeen tells me of his first independent project, but adds instantly, "I also plan to fulfil my father's dream of remaking QURBANI, which, of course, will be made under my father's banner."

Shaleen and Daljeet, the 'Nach Baliye 4' fame couple recently acquired the newly married status. The couple tied the knot in Jabalpur on 9th of December followed by various functions. So, does the new bride feel a sudden change post marriage?

In a casual chat over the phone Daljeet informs us, "It’s really a great feeling to be together as a couple. Shaleen has a lovely family and for me it’s fantastic to be a part of it now."

The busy couple does not have immediate plans to go on a honeymoon… "No, as of now my husband has some projects to complete. Actress Katrina Kaif has retained the top spot in Eastern Eye’s annual list of the 50 Sexiest Asian Women in the world. The British Bollywood babe beats off tough competition from the likes of fellow actresses, former beauty queens, models and pop stars to hold on to the crown she won last year.

This rounds off another impressive year for Katrina that has seen her star in hit Bollywood films ‘New York’, ‘Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani’ and ‘De Dana Dan’ and being named the new face of Barbie in India.

Katrina Kaif falls ill again, advised complete bed rest‎

Katrina Kaif’s busy schedule is taking a toll on her. Once again, she has fallen ill because of low hemoglobin count. And her family, friends, well-wishers are starting to get worried now.

Even though she is getting the best treatments done, her health continues to deteriorate. This is because the actress is pushing herself too hard.

On Friday and Saturday, she was attending the sangeet and wedding of Salman Khan’s close friend Krishan Narayan’s daughter. Katrina enjoyed herself at the wedding and simply had a good time.

However, when she woke up on Sunday morning, she couldn’t get out of bed and had to get a series of tests done, which revealed that her hemoglobin count was running low.

Attending the wedding was important for Katrina as she the bride’s father is closely associated with Praful Patel, the politician and is a close friend of Salman.

However, even the numerous tests done on her haven’t been able to determine what exactly is causing her blood to have such an abnormality. She has been advised complete bed rest by the doctors.

Hrithik Roshan, Farhan Akhtar and Abhay Deol to star in Zoya Akhtar's next

Zoya Akhtar, who earlier this year made an impressive debut with Luck By Chance, is all set to start her second directorial venture Running With The Bulls (working title). While her first film had quite a few bigwigs of Bollywood make a fleeting appearance, her second film too has quite a stellar cast. Running With The Bulls stars Hrithik Roshan, Farhan Akhtar and Abhay Deol in lead roles making it an extremely interesting casting coup of sorts.

Shooting for the film begins in January 2010 at various locations such as Greece, Turkey, Thailand, UK and India. Produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar under their banner Excel Entertainment, the film will have lyrics by Javed Akhtar. Other crew members include Carlos Catalan as the DOP, Suzanne Caplan Merwanji as the Production Designer, Nandini Shrikent as the Casting Director and Arjun Bhasin as the Costume Designer.

Madhuri Dixit to play Indira Gandhi in Mother: The Indira Gandhi Story

She has been the eternal 'Dhak Dhak' girl who ruled every human heart with her 'Ek Do Teen' number! She is none other than the eternal gorgeous Madhuri Dixit, who is now all set to play the role of the iconic (late Prime Minister) Indira Gandhi, in the biopic that is being made by the renowned director Krishna Shah. The two-part motion picture titled Mother: The Indira Gandhi Story was announced on her 92nd birth anniversary, which was on November 19th.

If the market buzz is to be believed, then, Hollywood stars Tom Hanks (as Lyndon Baines Johnson) is most likely to be a part of the film. Not just that, Tommy Lee Jones is being told as someone who was approached for an important role (to play Richard Nixon) in the film. On the Bollywood front, news has it that, Dharmendra, Abhay Deol and Nana Patekar have been approached to play Motilal Nehru, Rajiv Gandhi and Jai Prakash Narayan respectively!

Director Krishna Shah, who is known for his extensive research, has left no stone unturned while doing his research on Indira Gandhi, for the last 20 years by reading books on her, doing interviews with politicians, journalists, bureaucrats, writers, military men and Indira Gandhi's contemporaries. While the pre-production has already been done, the film will go on floors in mid 2010. The film is to be extensively shot in India, U.K, U.S.A and Russia.

Talking about the film, an excited Krishna Shah said, ''I have followed Indira Gandhi's life through media, books and critics. It's such an exciting and dramatic story. I want the future generation to know her story. A whole new generation has grown and matured since her assassination and through this film, I hope to connect people with their history and legacy.'' In order to do justice to the sweep of Indira Gandhi's remarkable life, the story will be a two-part film; Shah has split the film in two parts. While the first part will unfold her story from her birth to her emergence as 'Maa Durga' (Goddess of War) after her victory against Pakistan in the 1971 war, the second part will cover the political span of the rise of her son Sanjay Gandhi under Indira to her assassination.

Sources close to the filmmaker also revealed that the said film will have every element of an epic film - passion, love, marriage, motherhood, personal tragedy, revenge, and martyrdom. Needles to say, every viewer will be indeed waiting with bated beat to see the Madhuri not just back on the silver screen, but also as the legendary India Gandhi!

Sanjay Dutt's bearded look for Knock-Out delays his projects

Sanjay Dutt's dates have gone haywire, all thanks to the beard that he has grown for his role in Mani Shankar's Knock-Out.

The beard was supposed to come off this month after the completion of his schedule for Shankar's film. But Dutt's mentor Amar Singh played the spoilsport. He asked Dutt to campaign for the assembly elections in Maharashtra.

That's when Dutt's shooting schedule got somewhat messed up. Says a source close to Dutt, "Sanjay Dutt was supposed to complete the current schedule of Knock-Out and then move on to Indra Kumar's Dhamaal Part 2, the next schedule of Anees Bazmi's No Problem and the remaining portion of Bunty Walia's Lamhaa. But suddenly Sanjay got a call from Amar Singh asking him to campaign for the by-elections in Maharashtra."

When Amar Singh summons Sanjay Dutt hears no other voice. Says the source, "Sanjay immediately gave the dates required. Resultantly, his schedules were thrown off by two weeks."

Two weeks in itself would've not been such a setback were it not for the beard. Apparently, Dutt refused to shave off the beard to work on other pending projects simultaneously with Knock-Out.

Says the source, "Sanjay feels a false beard would cut into the authenticity of his character in Knock-Out. He refused to shave off the beard and take on the other projects after the delay caused by the by-elections. He requested other producers to push up their dates until he could finish with his bearded look."

Dutt has now decided he will hold a 'Look' for his film even if means cutting down on his assignments. In fact after he was unable to shave off his beard during Knock-Out, he gave others producers the option of signing someone else.

Akshay Kumar foregoes fees for TV show

In his endeavour to spread awareness about Karate and Martial Arts in general, Akshay Kumar has let go of at least a few lakhs for a TV show. A special 'making' segment has been created for the Karate Championship sponsored by him. However, the actor didn't talk commercials when the channel expressed its desire to air it.

Says a source attached to the channel Colors that would be airing the program titled 'Akshay Kumar Invitational Karate Event', "This is a very special event since Akshay Kumar is sponsoring a Karate Championship for the youngsters. The purpose is to enhance their talent, showcase their skills and represent their country. This is why he didn't even charge a penny for the program. He is not looking for any money here since he feels very strongly about the relevance of Martial Arts and wants all around awareness to be spread about it."

As the actor has always maintained, through this Championship he is looking at more and more youngsters in the country to come closer to Martial Arts. Just like in Singapore where learning Martial Arts is a must for everyone, he wants India too to wake up to this fact and become an expert in self defence.

"In a country like Singapore where Martial Arts is known by one and all, the crime rate is near to zero. No, it's not because everyone fears the backlash that he may get but the very fact that Martial Arts teaches the virtue of goodness as well as immense patience and mind control. That helps in further mental and personality development of an individual", says an expert, "In a country as wide as India, it makes sense to introduce Martial Arts much more religiously. It would add quite some value to enhance human endurance."

Named 'Akshay Kumar Invitational Karate Event', the show will be aired between 7PM-8PM IST on COLORS on Sunday, 22nd November.

Saif Ali Khan & Anil Kapoor in 'Race 2'

A lot has been spoken and written about RACE 2. Now here's the latest on the film. Abbas-Mustan have finalized the script of the film, which is currently being given finishing touches. As for the star cast, the sequel to the super-successful film will star Saif Ali Khan and Anil Kapoor in principal roles. Akshaye Khanna may not feature in the film because he was shown dead in the first part.

Meanwhile, one more lead man - a top name - is expected to be signed shortly. Also, producer Ramesh Taurani is planning to sign three leading ladies, all known names, for this film.

RACE 2 is expected to roll in March/April next year. "We will start RACE 2 once Saif is through with AGENT VINOD," producer Ramesh Taurani divulges.

Emraan Hashmi - latest to go the six-pack way

New Delhi, Dec 11 (IANS) Emraan Hashmi is all set to change his serial kisser image with his upcoming film 'Once Upon A Time In Mumbai' - he will flaunt six-pack abs and will be seen challenging an underworld don.

Director Milan Luthria says that he purposely wanted to give Emraan this look.

'Emraan has always been the underdog and his character is that of a rebel, a dark horse. I wanted to break his serial kisser image and add shock value to the film,' Luthria told IANS.

'I chose Emraan and then styled him this way as it was extremely difficult to find a youngster who in levels of intensity could be equal and at same time opposite to that of Ajay Devgn.'

The film is based on the Mumbai underworld of the seventies and Emraan's character challenges the underworld don, played by Ajay.

'The role in the film demanded a look like this. It's not just about the six packs, my character had to look physically tough. It was one of the key requirements of the script,' Emraan told IANS.

The actor, who has done hit films like 'Murder', 'Kalyug', 'Jannat' and 'Raaz - The Mystery Continues', underwent rigorous training and followed a strict diet regime to obtain the sculpted body.

Emraan was given Angular training method and the training period was divided into blocks of 10 days.

The actor was advised to have five-six meals a day and followed guidelines like consuming fats, which were four and five grams of fish oil for fat loss, walnuts and almonds, carb manipulation for losing fat and maintaining muscle mass and protein intake.

Earlier, Shah Rukh Khan and Aamir Khan went for six-pack for 'Om Shanti Om' and 'Ghajini' respectively. Shahid Kapoor is doing two better -- he will show off eight-pack abs in his forthcoming film 'Chance Pe Dance'.

'Once Upon A Time...' also stars Kangna Ranaut and Prachi Desai and is expected to hit screens in June next year.

Aamir to get Rs. 11, 000 for the first ticket of 3 Idiots!

If he is granted that wish, he will gift Rs. 11, 000 to either Aamir Khan or Vidhu Vinod Chopra, whoever issues the ticket to him.

He reached Mumbai today and will be staying in Lokhandwala Complex until ‘3 Idiots’ releases, that is, until Christmas. He hopes to return home happy. He will be taken to Aamir or Vidhu’s office by a TV producer in order to request for the first ticket.

When asked why he wants to offer Rs. 11, 000, he clarifies that he knows that neither Aamir nor Vidhu need that money, it will only be his way of expressing his happiness and like shagun. He wants the first 3 Idiots ticket to come to him, as he loves Aamir. He believes Aamir is simply marvelous as he always has a hit, despite releasing just one film per year.
